Functional items and tools

Functional PVD coatings for tools: drills, mills, threading tools and others

The low coefficient of friction typical of PVD processes support the sliding between the mechanical parts while the high chemical inertia offers a partial resistance to corrosion thus allowing to delay the phenomena of surface damage. This means less downtime due to maintenance, higher productivity and consequently lower production costs. Greater durability of precision components.

PVD treatments for molds and tools

We can manage even small and targeted productions with wear and technical/functional coatings.

Management of even small quantities

We offer solutions for molds, equipment and multiple types of tools with different prerogatives depending on the sector of application of the object, from traditional TiN - CrN - AlTiN - DLC to innovative tribological coatings ideal for HD tools that work in critical conditions such as absence of lubrication, high cutting speeds and surface hardness over 50 HRC.

We have the experience to analyse the typical problems of mechanical or thermal stresses of the various cases using mono-layer or multi-layer coatings with thicknesses from a few hundreds nanometers up to 5µm.

  • We can manage even small quantities, small batches of screws and accessories for cutters / cnc, following the processing phases with meticulous care and without omitting the slightest aspect;
  • Ad Hoc Customisations made according to your needs.

Corrosion resistance and low friction coefficient

The low coefficient of friction typical of PVD processes support the sliding between the mechanical parts while the high chemical inertia offers a partial resistance to corrosion thus allowing to delay the phenomena of surface damage. This means greater durability of precision components, less downtime due to maintenance, higher productivity and consequently lower production costs.

At high coating temperatures is there a risk of reducing the surface hardness previously obtained with appropriate heat treatments?
Yes, and that is why we recommend to communicate us the temperature of recovery: in this way we can propose the correct solution without affecting what was previously done.
Does pre-treatment surface roughness affect the final result?
The surface roughness of the substrate has a direct role both in the success of the coating and in operation: the lower it is, the better the performance of the coated object will be. In this regard we can also provide targeted solutions for surface preparation.
What are the process temperatures of functional PVD coatings?
Typical process temperatures are between 250 ° C and 450 ° C. In some cases coatings can be deposited at different temperatures, depending on the characteristics of the substrate and the performance required in operation.

Eco-Friendly and hypoallergenic

The PVD technology has absolutely no environmental impact: during the processing phases there are no releases of any kind in the atmosphere.
PVD coatings are non-toxic and hypoallergenic and have no migration of irritating substances to human health.

Small batches

Our artisanal management allows us to also work on small quantity orders, limiting the cost gap compared to an industrial type of processing.

Characteristics

- High surface hardness > 1.800 HV (traditional chrome plating 800HV).
- High resistance to scratches and corrosion.
- Resistance against acid products for domestic and industrial use.
